Entered two Settlement Agreements with Blue Cross and Blue Care Network that dramatically expanded the services payable to chiropractors.
Developed, and passed into law, legislation that ends the ability of auto no-fault insurers to refuse to reimburse licensed chiropractors for lawfully delivered services that they already cover and reimburse to other providers.
Developed, and passed into law, legislation that would allow chiropractors and MDs/DOs to form a professional corporation or professional limited liability company together.
How can I get involved with the MAC, one of the most effective State Associations in the country?
Getting involved is easy! First, if you are not a member, please join by filling out the application on our website. Your membership dues help the entire profession by keeping the MAC advocating for you and your patients!
There are multiple membership types for you to consider, each with their own degree of benefits but all supporting the chiropractic profession.Â
You can get involved at the district level. District meetings are available throughout the state in-person and via Zoom. This is a great way for you to keep up with MAC current events and enjoy camaraderie with colleagues in your area.
MACPAC is another way to be involved. MACPAC is the only political action committee in the state with the primary mission of electing and supporting pro-chiropractic incumbents and candidates. Direct financial political contributions, when coupled with grassroots efforts like direct communication with lawmakers, are successful approaches that have led to many victories for the chiropractic profession.
What type of leadership potential is available through the MAC?
Working at the district level is the cornerstone of MAC leadership. The MAC is made up of eight districts, each district containing officers that volunteer to help educate and advocate on their districts’ behalf.
The MAC is governed by a Board of Directors composed of two Representatives from each District, the Past President (Chair), a President, and a Vice President. The Board directives are executed by a five-member Executive Committee consisting of the Past President (Chair), the President, the Vice President, a Director of Internal Affairs and a Director of Financial Affairs. Visit our website for more information.
Does the MAC determine licensure requirements?
No, licensure requirements are determined by the State of Michigan’s Bureau of Professional Licensing and the Michigan Board of Chiropractic. The Board of Chiropractic consists of 9 voting members: 5 chiropractors and 4 public members.
The MAC is here to help you get all the continuing education you need to successfully fulfill any State requirements and renew or obtain your license.
